Vacation Recap Vol. 1

Henry did a good job trying to entertain himself on the long drive. The boys did GREAT on the trip down.

You'll never guess who we saw at McDonald's in Chapin, South Carolina - 200 miles away from home - our friends, Tom and Heidi and their family. They were returning home from Hilton Head as we were heading to Charleston. It was completely unplanned. I even wondered a few times where they might be on their trip home. The picture on the right is of Jonathan and Marshall playing on the playground.

The Boys' First Glimpse of the Ocean

We visited the Morris Island Lighthouse at the end of Folly Beach. The light house is in horrible condition and the land under it is slowly eroding away. From what we've learned, there used to be 15 buildings beside the light house and now it's just the lighthouse, and it used to be on the shore and now it's in the middle of the ocean. You can read more about the history of the Morris Island Lighthouse at the link above.

So Rob will be reminded on every trip in that direction "That's the exit with the McDonalds where we saw the Hodges"! I wonder how many things you still remember on the way to Atlanta-I'm curious. I think the boys get entertaining themselves in the car from their mom!
