Christmas Recap
A tired Jonathan isn't sure about getting up so early.
We had to be at my brother's house (90 minutes away) by 10:00.

Making a big mess

Henry and his new Wiggles slippers

Playing the piano at Uncle Mike and Aunt Melissa's house

Cowboy Jonathan on his new horse

Happy Cowboy Henry

Cowboy Grandpa

We brought back these two antique desks that belonged to my brother and me. I remember going to the old school that they were clearing out and picking out my desk a long time ago.

Henry and Jonathan's Birthday Party
We celebrated Henry and Jonathan's birthday last week.

When the boys got up from their nap - just before the party - they searched for their balloons.

Henry is wondering why there is only one candle on the cake.

The boys enjoyed their cake!

Merry Christmas!

"Alleluia, Hope has come
Alleluia, Christ has come
We once were slaves in misery
Till You appeared and set us free
Alleluia, Hope has come "

Christmas Tree Tour
Laurie started a Christmas Tree Tour on her blog and asked for others to post a picture of their tree. If you have a blog and would like to post of picture of your tree and other decoration, post a comment below so we can all see your post!

Our tree is very ecclectic. Some decorations are from my childhood; some are from Rob's. We also have new ornaments for the boys every year. Since the boys were born, our tree has gone through significant changes. When they were three days old, we were treeless because I had been on bedrest, and didn't have Rob put it up since he had done some much already. We spent that Christmas in the hospital anyways. When the boys were 12 months old, we had a gate around the tree so they couldn't pull up on the branches. Last year we were ornamentless on the bottom half. This year, I decorated the tree in phases...tree with star, then lights and finally ornaments. On the picture above, you'll notice that there are places where some ornaments are missing. That happened when the boys decided to fling the remote controls into the tree knocking off many ornaments.

This is my favorite ornament. My second grade teacher gave it to my family.
This is our Christmas Card Tree. You might even find a picture of your family there.

Here's our mantle. Rob and I bought the print on our honeymoon.

Help!
I am teaching the first graders on Sunday (Christmas Eve) without a curriculum. You'd think after teaching elementary school for 9 years that I could come up with something, but I've never had the opportunity to teach the REAL Christmas Story since I taught in a public school. If you have any ideas for a great God-centered lesson and craft, send them my way. My creativity tank is empty!

Why?

Why do people wait for 7 minutes while a mother with two young kids straps the kids in the cars seats, deals with a stroller and several bags just so she can get the closer spot? By the time I pulled out of the spot, she could have already been in the store. I just don't get it!

Ok - maybe she was older or very pregnant and didn't want to walk that far.

Welcome Baby Olivia and Baby Lydia!
No, they aren't twins....just born on the same day.

Congratulations to our friends, Brad and Chandra, on the birth of their daughter, Olivia Sue on Friday, December 15. Olivia weighed 7 lbs and 1 oz and was 20 inches long. Chandra and Olivia are doing great!

Also, congratulations to our friends, John and Laura, on the birth of their daughter, Lydia Christine on Friday, December 15, too. Lydia weighed 6 lbs 6 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. Laura and Lydia are doing great, too!

The girls have matching Christmas hats because they were born in the same hospital on the same day! Now we are waiting on Baby Parks and Baby Christian - any day now!

Blossoming Prayers
The boys are beginning to blossom in regards to their prayer life. Usually, they pray for a friend or family member. It ususally goes something like this: "Dear God, Thank you for Ally, Caden, and Miss Chandra and help me obey." Here's part of a prayer that we heard from Jonathan recently. (We were unable to translate the entire thing.): "Thank you God for Baby Jesus and The Wiggles, God, that we watched downstairs. Thank you that it will be sunny when we wake up in the morning and go downstairs. Help me obey. Amen"

1st Annual Christmas Cookie Baking Day
Kristie and I have started a new tradition, Christmas Cookie Baking Day. We gathered with our six boys to bake and decorate sugar cookies. We all had a good time...and the cookies weren't bad either!

Ingenuity

This week Henry discovered the light bulbs in the overhead fixtures in the hallway. He thinks they are balls and wants to get them out so he can play with them. Here's his attempt to rescue the balls while I wasn't looking:
