Marriage Retreat
Our church had a marriage retreat in Chattanooga this past weekend. It was a wonderful time of instruction, encouragement, and fun.

Robert and Amy - They are expecting their first child, a little girl, in July! We're not sure if those are sympathy pounds on Robert or if he's sticking out his gut.

Johanna greeting Jason and Shelley

Matt and Kristie

Brian and Zerita

Brad, Chandra and Olivia

We went to lunch on Saturday at Tony's Pasta Shop in the Bluff View District.

Out of the Mouths of Babes
Jonathan was complaining about the ants that were on the slide. He isn't a fan of bugs and wanted them to go away. I told him to just smash them. He said, "But Mommy, that might make them sad."

While shopping for groceries, Rob and I often split up to get the shopping done quicker. Henry was with Rob and heard a little boy in the next aisle. He was just sure it was Jonathan. When he and Rob turned the corner, Henry saw the African-American boy and said, "That not my brother."

On Easter Sunday, the boys were digging into the jelly beans while Rob was trying to talk about Jesus' death on the cross. Jonathan's comment was "Daddy, do you think Jesus likes jelly beans?"

Whirlwind Trip Home
I went to my hometown for the day on Friday to visit with my cousin, Sarah, who was in town from Virginia. We enjoyed having our four kids together.

Reagan Suzanne (wonder who she's named after)

Karley (on the move)

Uncle Steve (Sarah's dad) with Henry

We stopped by an assisted living facility that my cousin, Cindy, manages. A lot of our family members work there. So, it was a mini-family reunion. Here's Cindy "sugaring-up" all the kids.

Here's an attempt to get a picture of all four kids.

Cindy enjoyed showing off the brand new facility for their Alzheimer's residents. This is a swanky spa tub that the residents enjoy.

My mom encouraged Cindy many years ago to pursue a job as the Activity Director at a nursing home. Look at Cindy now! She's the head-hancho. She wanted to honor my mom for her encouragement by naming the salon after her. I'm not sure if the comment, "Walk-ins Welcome" was intentional or not. Walk-ins were ALWAYS welcome at our house!

Then we were off to visit my dad.

There is a big field beside my dad's house and we let the boys run around.

I remember when this tree was just a sapling. (Am I really that old??)

Then it was off to dinner with my immediate family. Here's my sister-in-law, Melissa, showing Jonathan a frog on the wall.

Hanging on for Dear Life

The boys got balloons at a birthday party today. They wanted to hold their balloons while they watched something.

Almost finished!
The play set is almost finished. It is 100% structurally sound, and all that's left to finish is the roof over the porch. We had a piece of lumber that was damaged so we are waiting for a replacement to arrive from Arkansas.

The boys really enjoyed playing on their playset for the first time. It was a chilly weekend, so they didn't get to stay out that long. Other than the porch roof, we have to get the landscaping timbers set in the ground, fill in a couple of spots with landscaping fabric, and get all the ground covering spread out. It's great to see the (almost) final product.

Anyone want to come over to play??

Before the 3 year-old touched the dandelion (or valentine, as the boys call it)

After the 3 year old touched the dandelion

17 Years Ago today, I became a Christian.
(I know, I know it's April Fool's Day, but it wasn't a joke.)
These are the words to a song that I have been enjoying lately. It's a wonderful look at someone before salvation to someone who is being sanctified daily.

"O Great God" Based on The Valley of Vision prayer “Regeneration”

O great God of highest heaven
Occupy my lowly heart
Own it all and reign supreme
Conquer every rebel power
Let no vice or sin remain
That resists Your holy war
You have loved and purchased me
Make me Yours forevermore

I was blinded by my sin
Had no ears to hear Your voice
Did not know Your love within
Had no taste for heaven’s joys
Then Your Spirit gave me life
Opened up Your Word to me
Through the gospel of Your Son
Gave me endless hope and peace

Help me now to live a life
That’s dependent on Your grace
Keep my heart and guard my soul
From the evils that I face
You are worthy to be praised
With my every thought and deed
O great God of highest heaven
Glorify Your Name through me
