Cake Decorating Class

Have you ever thought about taking a cake decorating class? Chandra and I would like to take one. I spoke with an instructor this evening at Hobby Lobby who is willing to schedule a class if I can come up with a total of 4 people (Their classes are usually on Mondays which isn't a good day for Chandra and me.) We're interested in scheduling a Thursday evening class, which would be four Thursdays in a row. I'm not really sure who is local and reads this blog, but if you are interested in taking a class, please comment below or send me an email.

Random Picture Time Again
Who is really playing with the Tinker Toys? Rob or the boys?

Grandpa (my dad) came to visit yesterday!

Henry got a carpet burn on his nose after acting like a snake all the way down the hallway. I think he looks like he had a nose job. A lady at the store asked me if I use the bandaid to tell them apart. I hope she was kidding.

Here's what happens when everyone wants Mommy.

My Little "Readers"

Henry likes to ride in the back of his dump truck, Thomas. To those familiar with Thomas the Tank Engine, check back later this week for my boys' version of Thomas and Friends.

Seeing Double Doubles
We had some very special visitors today. Our friends, Joe and Derrica, were in town with their two month-old identical twin girls, Madison and Makayla. Derrica and the girls stayed with us while Joe went to a meeting downtown. This was the first out-of-town trip for the girls.

Rob and Joe have been good friends for years. So, we find it funny that we all have twins!

Here's sweet picture of Jonathan trying to make Makayla happy. She was crying because she was hungry. Jonathan found his yellow ball that he calls his "happy ball," because it has a smiley face on it, and gave it to Makayla.

Terms of Endearment
I thought on Valentine's Day Eve we could all share the terms of endearment that we have for our children. Just in case you don't know what a term of endearment, here's a definition from Wikipedia: A term is endearment is a word or phrase used to address and/or describe a person, animal or object for which you feel affection for. Examples are calling a spouse 'sweetie', 'honey', 'darling' etc.

Most recently, we call our boys Bug ~ J-Bug and H-Bug or Henry-Bug. When the boys were newborns, Jonathan had the name, The Pokey Little Puppy, because it too him a looooong time to finish a bottle. We also called the boys Sir Poops A Lot and SeƱor Poopy Pants. I don't think either one of those Terms of Endearment needs an explanation. We've also been known to call them Buddy Boo.

What about your children? What Terms of Endearment do you have for them?

Saving Time with Bloglines
Last spring I heard about Bloglines from Laurie in Maryland. She recommended it because it was a way to save time when catching up with the blogs that you frequent. I didn't take advantage of this time-saver until this fall when I thought I would give it a try.

Here's how it works. You go to the Bloglines site and subscribe. Don't worry! It's free. Then you're ready to get started. The directions are very easy to follow. No more clicking on every site to see if it's been updated. Bloglines does it for you! Check it out! I promise - it will save you time.

Potty Training Update #3
We are six weeks into potty training, and it's going a lot slower than I expected. Rob thinks my expectations are too high. At this point, the boys will use the potty when I ask them to try (usually), but don't tell me when they need to go very often - maybe 30% of the time they will tell me. I recently moved the boys from Pull-ups to padded training pants hoping that it would help them understand that wet feeling. They don't like to pee in their training pants...but that doesn't stop them. However, they think that pooping in their training pants is very funny, and really don't care.

They wear pull-ups when we are away from home. They do a good job before nap time (at 2:00), but after nap until bedtime, they usually have two accidents each.

I know lots of kids have trouble pooping in the potty, but my boys aren't refusing....they just don't do it....they don't ask for a diaper, etc. The only times that they have been successful have been when I saw that "look" on their faces, and made them sit on the potty.

Experienced Moms: Where would you expect your newly 3 year old to be after 6 weeks of training? Any advice?

First Trip to the Dentist

The wait is over! Our appointment to pediatric dentist, Dr. Mysinger, finally happened today!
Thanks to my sister-in-law, Rebecca, and my friend, Shelley, for recommending that we go to Dr. Mysinger! The overall experience was wonderful. They boys enjoyed playing with the fun toys in the waiting room while I filled out the paperwork. Then all three of us went back to a long room with four kid-size dental chairs. The boys did a super job sitting still and being patient while the dental hygenists "counted" and cleaned their teeth. I loved how they gave the boys sunglasses so the lights wouldn't bother their eyes. I really appreciated the fact that I could sit in the room with the boys while they had their teeth cleaned. Some pediatric dentists don't allow parents to be with the kids. Dr. Mysinger was patient to listen to my questions and was great with the boys. If your kids don't have a dentist, I highly recommend Dr. Mysinger. Because his practice is a busy one, expect to wait 5-6 months for an appointment.....so call now for a summer appointment! To read more about Dr. Mysinger, click here and then go to page 14 of the document.

Here's Henry trying on his glasses.

Drew's Swim Meet
I finally got to watch my nephew, Drew, swim in a swim meet on Saturday night. Since he is a senior (unbeliveable), it was his final meet before the state meet in Nashville. The pictures I took didn't turn out very well because I was too far away and the light wasn't good. However, I found this one on a local site for sport.
That's Drew on the far right cheering on his teammate in the final event of the night - the 400 Freestyle Relay. Drew's team won! Also, you'll see part of my brother, Mike, behind Drew in the light blue shirt.

Here's Drew with Henry and Jonathan the morning after the meet.

Dirt Cake and Five Little Groundhogs
We enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Ben and Cindy's on Groundhog Day. When Cindy and I were kids, our families always celebrated Christmas together on December 23. Our parents always joked about when we get together again. Groundhog Day was always the date they picked. (I really don't know why.) So, this year Cindy invited us over for dinner on Groundhog Day. We've gotten together with our two sets of multiples many times, but this was the first time that we could let the kids play upstairs while we actually converse like adults.

I wanted to make a dessert that went along with Groundhog Day. All I could come up with was dirt cake with paper groundhogs. It was a hit! However, we're afraid that we'll find five 3 year-old eating dirt this summer....
