Charleston, South Carolina

We will be taking our first family vacation in a few weeks to Charleston, South Carolina. We're excited about having some time away. We're glad the boys have transitioned well to their new beds...our condo has two twin beds just for them

To those of you who have vacationed in Charleston, what are some kid friendly places we don't want to miss - - restaurants, shopping areas, historical spots, museums, etc.

To those of you who have traveled long distances with toddlers, I'd love to hear your ideas for entertaining the boys during the drive. We're planning to leave very early in the morning with hopes that the boys will sleep for a few hours.

Hey, Charleston was our vacation spot for 7 years. We stayed at jim's parents so we didn't do alot of eating out but I can recommend an awesome beach. We love Isle of Palms. It is in North Charleston. They have a very small commercial area, you can get icecream, french fries etc at a little stand but the rest of the town is all beach, not all junky and crowded. The water is sooo warm and the sand is nice. we also liked to go into downtown Charleston. They have those dancing fountains and a big pineapple fountain for the kids to play in. They also have alot of specialty shops to walk to. They have an open flea market going all the time, a little hectic but my kids always loved it. We would do all of our shopping and browsing and than go to the fountains and let the kids get wet in their clothes and dry off in the car and go home. have you ever been to Sticky Fingers? If you like ribs, this is the place to go! Monday night is all you can eat!! This is getting long..you can e-mail me and I can give you my car tips or answer any questions. It's hevytrain@verizon.net

Well Suzie, it appears as though Ernesto could appear on the South Carolina coast later this week. I am not sure when you are going, but instead of Suzie Snowflake, you might become Suzie Tsunami!
