Benjamin's vocabulary

I spend a lot of my day trying to figure out what Benjamin is saying. Let's just say - I think he has some speech therapy in his future. These are all pronounced exactly as they appear....think phonics.
Kee kee
skoo bush
ah pain
tuk
muh
mik
he go
Daee
Norna
tee two
Henny
ah bow
puh bawl
gaga tuk

What do YOU think he is saying?

Favorite Thing
My favorite thing that Benjamin is doing right now it "jumping." He can't quite get his feet to work the way he wants. So when you tell him to jump, he just stomps one foot over and over. It is incredibly cute!

Benjamin - 18 months old

Benjamin turned 18 months old on Friday. I really can't believe how fast this little guy is growing up! He has his 18 month well visit on Friday; so I will post his stats later.

At 18 months, Benjamin still loves to climb. He climbs everything - I mean everything. We've had to remove Henry and Jonathan's bunk bed ladder when they aren't sleeping because it's not unusual to find Benjamin on the top bunk. Recently I caught him just as he was falling off the top of the ladder.

He loves cars. He rolls them all over the house - and on top of tables when he gets on them. One of my favorite things about him at this stage is his love for music. He loves to dance and "sing" and sway back and forth to the music. He and Rob will sit in the chair and listen to fun music on the computer - any genre. You name it, this boy likes it.

He's starting to talk more, too. He doesn't have a huge vocabulary yet (maybe using five words regularly (momma, dada, bath, ball, uh-oh). But he sure understands everything you say and follows directions very well (when he wants to). He's a very good grunter.

Another favorite thing for him is being outside. Maybe it's just God's sense of humor that my child want to be outside 24/7 since I'm an air-conditioning girl. He still loves "his boys" (Henry and Jonathan), and they are very protective of him - especially when he decides to climb up the 8 foot portion of our playground which is a big no-no. 8 foot drop and an 18 month old don't mix well.

I love my little B-Bug!

15 months old

It's hard to believe it, but Benjamin is 15 months old. He is such a happy boy (when he's getting his way but can sure throw a temper tantrum when he isn't.) He love his "boys" (Henry and Jonathan), cars, and eating crayons and crackers of any kind. He tries to run but doesn't quite have the coordination to be successful. He is saying a few words but really just does a lot of jabbering. He is quite the climber, too He climbs the ladder to the slide by himself (with me behind him to catch just in case). Often, I'll find him on top of the kitchen table....eating.

At his 15 month apppointment, he weighed 23 lbs and 11 oz (25th percentile) and was 32 1/2 inches tall (95 percentile). The doctor said he wouldn't expect anything different - tall and skinny - just like the other two.

Benjamin's Birthday
Our whirlwind week has ended as we gear up for another one.

I'll start with Benjamin's birthday parties. We had some of our local friends over for a party. We all had a fun time! Benjamin loved getting in the cake!

Then we traveled to my hometown for the wedding weekend. We had a little party for Benjamin at my brother's house on Saturday morning (the day of the wedding - yes, we are crazy.)

Benita and Benjamin

My dad, my cousin, Stephanie (who I still think of as 12 years old even though she's almost 30) and my Uncle Steve.

I love this picture of my Aunt Maxine and Benjamin.

This is the way Aunt Mac usually is - smiling!

Coming up soon - Wedding pictures - the boys did a super job as ring bearers. I was quite surprised! They sure did look cute in the tuxedos although Henry's shoes were 13 mens....don't worry we got different one. More on that soon.

Happy Birthday, Benjamin!

Today is my little guy's birthday! I can't believe that he's already a year old! He has become a very friendly and happy little boy.

We had a party for him on Wednesday and he had fun with his cake. He has another party tomorrow in my hometown! We have a very busy weekend because Henry and Jonathan are in my cousin's wedding. (Hopefully they will be quiet enough to get down the aisle....we'll see!) More photos later - Benjamin's parties, Henry and Jonathan in tuxes, and much more!

We have a walker!

Benjamin took his first steps last week, but something clicked this evening and now he's all over the place! When he walks from one place to another, we all cheer, and he responds by (pleasantly) yelling back at us. It's just so cute!

9 Months Stats

Benjamin turned 9 months old while we were on vacation. He had his appointment with Dr. Glover soon after we got back. He weighed 19 lbs and 11 oz (40th percentile), and he was 29 inches long (80th percentile). He now has 8 teeth. Two appeared rather mysteriously. He's been such a difficult teether that we knew weeks ahead of time that he had teeth coming. So when Rob discovered them last week, I had to see it with my own eyes. Benjamin loves the walker that we borrowed from his friend, Layla. He runs all over the place in it! He's also a bit of a climber. I envision him standing on our dining room table one day. (The picture below shows his climbing skills.) Also, he has started eating some table food. His favorites are cheddar cheese, green beans, and rice. He says Dada and Mamamamama - usually when in distress and he has started shaking his head "no," but usually not in context.

Milestone Day

Yesterday was a big milestone day for Benjamin. First thing in the morning, I found his 4th tooth. He cut the 3rd one last Sunday. So hopefully we can get a little sleep around here. Then he decided that he wanted to go from the crawling position to the sitting position. And the big one was this:

He's pulling up!

7 months old
I can't believe 7 months have gone by so quickly. Benjamin is such a sweet boy - still a bit high maintenance. He officially started crawling about two weeks ago. So, no more Army crawling for him. He loves to go all over the house and find all the little things that he's not supposed to have (with crayons and paper being his favorite). He's cutting his top teeth. One should be in any day now, but I've been saying that for two weeks. He broke his beloved mobile by pulling on it. We had already dropped his crib down so that he couldn't reach it. But lo and behold, he found a way.

My three sons - all clean!

6 Month Portraits Preview
My friend, Casey, and I took the kids to the UT Gardens today to take portraits of the babies.

I've titled this one - "I can't take any more, Mommy!"

More to come....

6 months old

Benjamin is six months old today. He had his check-up yesterday. He weighs in at 17 lbs 3 oz and is 26 3/4 inches long. He started officially sitting up without support yesteday. He's been doing the "tripod" sit for a while (even though my skeptics disagree). He loves to laugh at Henry and Jonathan. He's also very fond of toys. His top two teeth aren't quite ready to show themselves, but I bet we'll see them in a few weeks.
It's so strange having a full-term baby. I feel like he's a genius because he does things so much earlier than the other two....I was flabbergasted when he rolled over at 3 1/2 months. (The other two were six months when they rolled over, etc.) Then I come to find out that he's developmentally on track. I guess he's just a normal baby.

Toys, Toys and More Toys

Benjamin has been a bit fussy and discontent lately. I think he's cutting more teeth. The boys were trying to help him be happier. So they brought him every "baby" toy they could find. They are so sweet to him!
